Mortgage Rates Tick Up

MCLEAN, Va., July 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —Ā Freddie MacĀ (OTCQB: FMCC) today released the results of itsĀ Primary Mortgage Market Survey® (PMMSĀ®), showing the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 6.72%.
āAfter declining for five consecutive weeks, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage moved slightly higher following a stronger than expected jobs report,ā said Sam Khater, Freddie Macās Chief Economist. āDespite ongoing affordability challenges in the housing market, we are seeing home purchase and refinance applications respond to the downward trajectory in rates, increasing by 25% and 56%, respectively, compared to the same time last year.ā

HUD, OMB Streamline Home Appraisal Process, Effectively Disband Woke Biden-Era Task Force

WASHINGTONĀ ā U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner and Acting Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Jeffrey Clark announced the termination of burdensome policies introduced under the Biden-eraās Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity (PAVE) task force. As part of the PAVE task force, members were directed to issue guidance on anti-discrimination obligations, review policies and practices, and issue new policies focused on āeliminating bias and advancing equity in home appraisals.ā
